Ask
Ask Documentation
Survey and forms builder — build a form with seven question types, publish a public link with no login required, and review responses with built-in analytics and CSV export.
Getting Started
Creating your first form
Go to Ask > Forms > New Form. Give it a title and an optional description, then start adding questions. Click Save Draft at any time — drafts are only visible to members of your organization until you publish.
Adding and reordering questions
Click + Add Question and choose a type. Use the up and down arrows next to each question to reorder them — there's no drag-and-drop, just simple move controls. Remove a question with the trash icon, and toggle Required to stop respondents skipping it.
Draft vs published forms
A form has two states: Draft and Published. Draft forms have no public link and can't receive responses — only Published forms are reachable at their shareable link. You can keep editing a published form; changes take effect immediately for anyone who opens the link afterward.
Question Types
The seven question types explained
Short Text (a single-line answer), Long Text (an open paragraph box), Single Choice (pick exactly one option), Multiple Choice (pick any number of options), 1-5 Rating (a five-point scale), Yes/No (a simple binary question), and Date (a date picker). Mix and match them in any order within a form.
Choosing between Single Choice and Multiple Choice
Use Single Choice when only one answer makes sense — like "Which office do you work from?" Use Multiple Choice when more than one answer can apply — like "Which of these benefits have you used?" Both let you define your own list of options.
Publishing & Sharing
Publishing and sharing your form
From Ask > Forms, click Publish on your form. Once published, click Copy Link to copy the shareable URL — anyone with the link can respond immediately, with no account and no login required by default. Unpublish at any time to hide the form and disable the link without deleting any responses already collected.
Requiring respondents to log in
By default, published forms need no login at all. To restrict a form, open it in the builder, go to Settings, and turn on Require Login. Visitors without a session are redirected to log in before they can submit a response; once signed in, users from any organization can then respond.
Closing a survey / response limits
Open the form in the builder and go to Settings. Set a Closing Date to automatically stop accepting responses after a certain date, or a Response Limit to stop once a set number of responses come in. Once either limit is reached, the public link shows a closed message instead of the form.
Responses & Analytics
Viewing responses and analytics
Open a form from Ask > Forms and click Responses. You'll see a table listing every submission, plus a bar-chart breakdown for each question showing how many respondents picked each option, rating, or answer.
Exporting responses to CSV
From the Responses view, click Export CSV to download every response as a spreadsheet-ready file, including the submission timestamp for each row. There's no limit on how many times you can export.
Troubleshooting
Public link shows "not found"
This means the form has been unpublished or was never published. Check Ask > Forms and confirm the form's status is Published, not Draft.
Public link shows "closed"
The form has reached its closing date or response limit. Open the form in the builder and check Settings — extend the closing date or raise the response limit to reopen it to new responses.
A response didn't show up in the table
The Responses view loads when you open it — refresh the page if a response came in moments ago. If it still isn't there, check whether the response limit had already been reached at submission time; the respondent would have seen a closed message instead of being able to submit.
